Tumbled Travels: Commited to zero waste
Infinite Journeys: Our Zero-Waste Philosophy
When we harvest a stone or rescue a gem from a discard bin, we take responsibility for its entire future. While the focal points of Tumbled Travels are often our signature pendants and custom earrings, our reverence for the earth means we never throw away the remnants. Every cut, every trim, and every shave leaves behind material that still holds millions of years of geological history. We save every single scrap from our studio and channel it into a creative ecosystem. Here is how we ensure that absolutely nothing goes to waste.
Accents: The Mid-Sized Remnants
When we shape a large focal stone, the pieces that break away are carefully collected and sorted by size.
Custom Accent Stones: Larger, irregular shards are hand-shaped and polished to become companion accent stones for multi-stone jewelry designs.
Irregular Beads: Shards that are beautifully unique but too small for standard settings are drilled and transformed into organic, free-form beads, giving a rugged, natural texture to our bracelet and necklace strands.

Resin Art & Adventure Bottles: The Small Remnants
The Lapidary Slurry: From Studio to Canvas
Our commitment to zero-waste goes all the way down to the microscopic level. When we work our lapidary machines and flat laps, the water and friction create a fine rock residue known as slurry.
Handmade Paint Pigments: Instead of washing this rock dust down the drain, we carefully harvest and dry the slurry left behind by different stones.
Craig’s Paintings: Craig takes these ultra-fine rock leftovers and processes them into rich, custom paint pigments. He incorporates the actual earth we gathered on our travels directly into the textures of his fine art paintings.
When you purchase from Tumbled Travels, you are supporting a studio where nature is respected, waste is rejected, and every single grain of sand tells a story.

The fragments that are too tiny for traditional jewelry tools still carry the spirit of the places we’ve traveled.
Resin Art Accents: Small, vibrant chips of stone are preserved and suspended as glowing mosaic elements inside custom resin art pieces.
Our "Adventure Bottles": For the smallest, finest gemstone chips, we gather them into tiny glass vials. These Adventure Bottles act as a visual mosaic of our various travels across private claims and wild country. They are our most accessible items for sale, allowing anyone to own a genuine piece of earth history, no matter their budget.
